המורה להוראה המתקנת באנגלית, דורית, בבית ספר יער גבעת גונן בירושלים כתבה בדו"ח השנתי שלה על פרויקט קרן טליה שלהם. היא מספרת על תלמידי שפה שניה צעירים הלומדים בהתלהבות, שגם להם יש קשיי למידה ספציפיים, מתחילים סוף סוף להדביק את הפער עם בני גילם. בכל שלב ישנם מספר ילדים שרמתם השתפרה עד כדי כך שיכלו לחזור לכיתתם המקורית.


עם זאת, היא מספרת לנו שככל שהילדים גדולים יותר כך הם מגלים התנגדות רבה יותר לעזוב את כיתת האם ללימוד בקבוצות קטנות. לעתים קרובות הם זקוקים לשכנוע עדין כדי להצטרף לשיעורים מיוחדים אלו היכולים לספק להם את המענה הטוב ביותר לקשיי הלמידה הספציפיים שלהם.
